Frequently Asked Question: What is the difference between the Katadyn Ceradyn and Gravidyn Water Filters?
Answer:
- The Ceradyn ceramic filter element removes bacteria only (filtering for size), while the Gravidyn water filter elements remove bacteria and chemicals because in addition to the ceramic filter, they contain a carbon filter as well.
- The Ceradyn elements last a lot longer (2 years) than the Gravidyn elements (6 months) because although the ceramic filter element that both filters contain is very durable and can be cleaned occassionally for extended use, the Gravidyn's carbon granules do not last that long.
- The good news is, the Gravidyn ceramic elements can still be used to remove bacteria after the carbon is gone
- The Ceradyn elements are more expensive because they last a lot longer than the Gravidyn elements
