Katadyn Hiker Pro Microfilter Description
The Katadyn Hiker PRO water filter picks up where the Katdyn Hiker leaves off.
In addition to being a lightweight, indexpensive, versatile water filter, just like the regular Katdyn Hiker water filter, the Hiker Pro version comes with a removable filter protector to extend cartridge life in challenging conditions. It also has an activated carbon core to reduce pesticides and bad tastes in the water.
The Pro Hiker is easy to put together thanks to quick connect fittings on the input and output hoses. It also connects directly to hydration packs with 1/4” drink tubes (This is great if you like to drink from a portable hydration system like a Camelbak.) The Hiker Pro's hydration pack adaptor kit, lets you easily filter water directly into your hydration pack, without having to remove the bladder.
In a field test conducted by Backpacker Magazine, the Katdyn Hiker Pro was rated "The World's Toughest Pump Filter."

When you are out at the lake you probably don’t give a second thought to the dangers that are in the water should you choose to drink it. Cooking with it isn’t as dangerous because the heat from the fire will kill most if not all the harmful bacteria in it, if you boil it. Taking gallons of bottled water might make sense but it’s a hassle. Instead, try the Katadyn Hiker Pro Water Filter - one of the most popular ways to get the clean water you need.
The Katadyn Hiker Pro Microfilter Water Filter, Item 8014531, is the one of the most popular filters and best Katadyn water filters on the market, and for good reason. These filters remove all the harmful viruses and bacteria that may be lurking in your lake as well as protozoans such as giardia and cryptosporidium. This easy-to-clean filter can handle up to 200 gallons of water, depending upon the water quality, before having to be replaced.
Using the Katadyn Hiker Pro Water Filter is easy, too. It only takes about 48 strokes on the handle to get a freshly filtered liter of water, for most people that’s only about a minute's worth of work. It comes with universal bottle adaptor, carrying bag and field cleaning kit.
